“Susquehanna”, +Live+

in my old age, 15+ years after first hearing this song, i can appreciate that some of the lyrics are just meta silliness, even though i thought they were all sorts of deep when i was 18.  but as i listen to all my old +Live+ albums in preparation for seeing them in concert next weekend, i’m also discovering that every song contains at least one snippet of lyrical genius mixed in with the pseudo-mysticism, in addition to almost unfailingly great music.  this song is a great example, because it contains some of my favorite lines ever:

“Although we were very thirsty, I question the oasis.”

“It’s hard to join the dance when you know the song is poisoning everyone.”

they never released a true studio version of this song, and the demo version is crappy quality.  so this is the live version, which is all the better for the passion in it, anyway.  enjoy.
